Clay is a collection of stories of those who are working in the present to enable a brighter future for the next generation. We hope these stories will offer you hope, amid a backdrop of gloom, that there is positive change coming.

The last couple of years have been complicated for a lot of people, no more so than for the youth. It can be tricky to see if, and when, an uncertain world will become clear when hope seems obsolete and young people feel abandoned.

The Clay team have worked resolutely this past month to showcase some of the young changemakers from different corners of the world who are aiming to dispel this pessimism. As young people ourselves, we know the impact these people are making and they have inspired us throughout this process. Hopefully they will inspire you too.

In Voices, you will find individuals that our reporters have been lucky enough to speak to. From Evan Marnell showing millions on TikTok the importance of expressing your sexuality, to those reshaping the face of the police, to getting in the ring with Isaac Chamberlain and Adam Azim, we introduce pioneers of change.

Across Society, you will be taken on a journey around the world as we hear from the Colombian President about his reforms to his nation’s drugs policy, talk to young environmentalists in West London and listen to Rohingya youth leaders who fled persecution in Myanmar six years ago.

In Culture, we learn of the musicians attempting to shift preconceived attitudes of Arab culture, how gaming is used to combat toxic, online hustle culture, and how barriers to mental health help are being broken down by AI chatbots.

What unites these three sections are young people. We all have an opportunity to make a better future for ourselves, and others in the future.
